Tom Vander Well Succumbs and Joins the List!

It took a bit of convincing from myself and Chris Cree, but eventually Tom Vander Well gave up and joined the list!

Thanks Tom!

Tom is a partner at c wenger group, a company that specializes in helping clients measure and improve customers service in their contact centers. If you’ve ever had to call a company’s call center, you know they need help. So I’m sure Tom keeps pretty busy!

Tom also has a great blog called QA QnA — which in his words covers his “thoughts, observations, rants and raves from the front-lines of Call-Center Quality Assessment.” Phew.

Truth be told, we need more people talking about improving customer service and support (which is a passion of mine so kudos to Tom for getting out there and spreading the gospel.

Tom lives in Pella, Iowa, which sounds like a beautiful place. It sounds like it has strong connections with Holland, which I find interesting and so should Bob LeDrew because Ottawa has strong connections to Holland as well. Ottawa, in fact, has the largest tulip festival in the world.

During WWII, Ottawa housed members of the Dutch Royal Family, so they could avoid Nazi persecution. Princess Margriet was actually born in Canada in 1943, and the maternity ward had to be temporarily declared a part of the Netherlands, so the birth could be claimed on Dutch territory. Crazy huh? You can read all about it on Wikipedia.
Well that’s enough of a history lesson today (although Basil is fascinated by quirky history so he’d approve.) I’m pleased to have Tom Vander Well onboard!

Welcome Tom - what took you so long? You are going to get quite a kick out of this, I assure you. And thanks Ben for all those facts on Pella. But there’s no Starbucks there!

  2. Ben Says:

Well maybe Tom or someone else should open a Starbucks up there. Give it a tulip theme.

Someone needs to open up a coffee place near my office. If I knew anything about the business and had the money for a franchise I’d seriously consider it.

    Thanks for sticking around Starbucker!

  3. Tom Vander Well Says:

No Starbucks, I know. But hundreds of THOUSANDS of tulips, and the tallest working windmill in the states, and a canal, and lots of people whose last name starts with V, and…

    [sigh]…no Starbucks.
