Is that the start of some hilarious joke? Maybe. Probably.
But it’s also undoubtedly the truth, since Jonathan Dean has joined the list!
Jonathan Dean is a stand-up comedian, poet and writer in Middleton, Ohio and an avid MySpace user.
He’s also the author of a book: What is a Limerick?: Limericks and Other Poems. He was kind enough to donate one of his books to a recent writing contest at IGotNewsForYou.
In honor of Basil’s journey, his start in Montreal, Quebec, and his taste for liquor, here are two limericks from Jon’s book:
UNTITLED
There was an Ol Man of Quebec
A beetle ran over his neck;
But he cried, ‘With a needle,
I’ll slay you, O beadle!’
That angry Old Man of Quebec.DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE
If you spend the whole night at a bar,
Just remember, don’t drive your car,
For if the cops you find,
They will not be too kind,
If they don’t, still you may not get far!
Basil will be visiting Jon in Ohio from Tom in Iowa. Ohio will be Basil’s 8th US State. I’m sure Basil will have a great time. He’ll probably try and hit some open mic nights and start a second career as a stand-up comic.
Interestingly, it seems there are two places called Middleton in Ohio. Check out Answers.com. There’s a Middleton in Columbiana County and one in Hocking County. I don’t know which one Basil will be visiting.

I live in Middletown, Ohio, just North of Cincinnati, and just South of Dayton.
Maybe we can take Basil to Jokers, Go Bananas and Wiley’s a trifecta of comedy clubs!
