Since the beginning of this project I wanted to do a Google Maps mashup so I could display where Basil’s been and where he’s going.
I found an incredible site called Map Builder which allows you to setup a map mashup for free with almost zero technical experience required!
It would be really slick if the map I built could pull the locations directly from the list but that’s a bit beyond my ability at this point. So each time a new person signs up I have to add them to the map through Map Builder. Luckily it only takes a few seconds to do, and the map updates automatically.
And now, Where Is Basil? has a great map of all the locations Basil the Donkey will visit throughout this journey. I’ve linked to it on the left-hand side, and you can also click the link below.
For each location you can click on it to get a bit of information; the city, the person’s name and the URL to their blog/website/business.

Neat Map, but my URL is (dot)com/WP if you use it without the WP it takes them to the Webpage instead.
Not that it matters, there are links there, but it’s not the Blog.

Don’t leave out Basil’s side trip to San Jose for Blogher. After all he WAS in jail there.
Hey Liz! That’s true, I probably should put San Jose in there. Of course that would mean including Boston too where Starbucker took Basil on a little jaunt.
Since it was an unplanned trip to San Jose though, maybe it’s best if I don’t add it officially to the map. Not that I want to insult the feminist bloggers that Basil hooked up with, but who knows what journeys people will take him on…
What we need is someone FROM San Jose to join the list!
