Well, Chris Cree was right — Basil’s in the Bahamas.
I’m not even going to mention how testy I got with him for his little “side journey’ — “stick to the plan Basil!” – suffice it to say that Basil will be on a plane tomorrow to Phoenix, Arizona. Using Kayak.com, Basil was able to find a flight on Continental with only 2 stops for $514 and it gets him to Phoenix just before 7:00pm.
From there, Basil will rent a car and travel the 30 minutes or so to Mesa, Arizona to the home of Easton Ellsworth.
Did you know that Mesa is home to many gated retirement communities?
More interesting (unless you’re retired and looking to move into a gated community) is their logo:

And why is their logo interesting? Because it says, “quality service.” That just strikes me as something interesting for a city to say. I know Easton’s just moved there, but maybe he can shed some light on this — does Mesa, AZ offer great, quality service?
One thing for sure, Mesa is hot. It’s going to a high of 99 degrees Fahrenheit tomorrow and should break 100 degrees over the next week or so. That’s around 37-39 degrees Celsius. Dang. And I know that’s not the hottest it gets there, but that’s plenty hot for us Canadian folk!
Meanwhile Basil’s enjoying the warmth and fun of the Bahamas. I’m jumping for joy over here. Really, I am. One can only hope he keeps his gambling to a minimum…I’d say the chances are…ya, exactly.
While I don’t expect him to look at this information until he’s on the plane or just before take-off, here are some interesting links from Mesa, Arizona:
* Roots Rock Reggae Concert - Basil loves Reggae!
* Arizona Museum of Youth - Cause Basil acts like a kid most of the time. This looks cool - art and activities for kids from birth to 12 years of age. I’m not sure what a 1-day old will get from looking at art, or if they could do much of anything in terms of activities (unless pooping, peeing and burping can be considered art), but the concept still looks neat.
Later today or tomorrow before Basil heads off to Mesa, Arizona from Freeport, Bahamas I should be getting one or two reports from him. So stay tuned!

Bring on the Basil!
[...] Amazingly enough, Basil’s flight from the Bahamas to Phoenix, Arizona was uneventful. I guess he learned his lesson about the Mile High Club. Thank goodness for small miracles. [...]
