Wendy Piersall is a stay-at-home mom and an entrepreneur. Cool. If I was able to be a mom, I’d want to be a mom and an entrepreneur too. Was that too much information?
Wendy runs eMoms at Home which is an extremely popular blog about being a mom, staying at home, and being an entrepreneur.
What should strike you immediately when you read Wendy’s blog and her about page is that she’s open and honest. She’s the first to tell you she’s failed twice in the past (and there’s nothing wrong with failing, in fact I’d recommend it!)
Even if you’re not in Wendy’s audience target, I think her blog is still worthwhile. You can learn a lot from moms, and Wendy’s no exception. And she’s living proof that you can balance work and life, all the while staying at home. Knowing what my home is like, I’d have to say that’s pretty damn incredible.
Wendy lives in Chicago, where Basil’s already run a little rampant with Liz Strauss.
And, Basil won’t have to go far to visit Wendy because he’ll already be there with Kate!
That’s one of the things that’s so amazing about this project. In some cases, Basil will fly across the globe to go from one person’s house to the next, in other cases he’ll just have to walk down the street. If you check out the list you’ll see that Basil’s currently in Mesa, Arizona. His next stop? Scottsdale, Arizona. But after that he’s got a heck of a long trip to Australia, and then flies all the way back to Nova Scotia.
The randomness of it makes it exciting and fun!
Wendy — all I can hope for is that Basil doesn’t disturb your life too much with his craziness. I’m sure your kids can keep him well occupied though! Thank you for being a part of this project and joining the community…
And the map has been updated…check it out!

Hey Ben and Basil! We can’t WAIT to visit with Basil. The kids are already asking if he will take them on rides around the neighborhood.
I just did the math, and it looks like Basil will be here with me over the Christmas week. That will be absolutely perfect - as my inner Martha Stewart only comes out during the month of December, so I’ll do all sorts of Mommy kind of stuff with him! Hopefully the holiday travel congestion won’t delay his arrival.
Unfortuntely, the entreprenurial side of myself tends to traditionally take a big hiatus during that week. But I’ll save some good business moments for him just so he isn’t too freaked out by the strange and rare domestic side of Wendy.
And THANKS for the beautiful post and the welcome to the community. Wonderful to be here and support the cause… (uh, what is the ’cause’?!)
