Monaca, Pennsylvania is a small place. According to the 2000 census, 6,286 people lived there. But that never stopped Basil before. He’ll go anywhere, anytime. So long as it’s not on Tuesday night. That’s poker night.
Anyway, Bill Cockrum lives in Monaca, Pennsylvania, and he’s joined the list so Basil will be heading there in the near future.
Bill has a small business — Cockrum Publishing — which sells two software applications: Amibook, a personal information manager and address book, and ResTrax , software for Service Coordinators. Bill and his wife also own a local movie theatre, which sounds like a lot of fun. Personally, I hope Basil checks it out and tells us what it’s like.
Bill’s got a very interesting blog called Shards of Consciousness where he talks about personal development, self awareness, and better management of your life and yourself. Pretty heavy stuff. But worth it.
Now before Bill signed up to join the Where Is Basil community he told me he was worried that there wouldn’t be enough for Basil to do in Monaca. I told him not to worry about it; even the smallest of towns has plenty to see and do. There’s always a couple crazy people, a haunted house and some strange museum in every town, right?
In the picture below, which I believe is of downtown Monaca I think I see a nail salon. Basil could use a bit of nail trimming probably…

Rick — I’m sure you’ll have a blast with Basil when he gets there, and you can help open up the world’s eyes to what Monaca, Pennsylvania has to offer. More importantly, it’s great to have you onboard as part of the community!
And the map has been updated…check it out!

Yep! That’s a picture of Monaca’s major intersection and the old building on the left is currently a nail salon. In that picture alone you see half our business district.
I’m looking forward to Basil’s arrival, though my wife has some trepidation about it. We’ll do what we can to show him a good time, or at least point him in the direction of some of the interesting sites.
