I just came across the website Postcrossing. It was started by Paulo Magalhães.

It’s simple and elegant in its simplicity. Sign-up. Send a postcard. You’ll receive at least one postcard back from some random person in the world. And then, they’re no longer random.
You can send as many postcards as you like and keep receiving them. It’s amazing!
From their site, I nabbed these stats:
- 14314 registered users in 128 different countries;
- 2439 males, 9987 females; 1814 prefer not to say;
- 222338 postcards have been received because of this project;
- 27125 postcards are travelling at this exact moment;
- the average postcard trip time is 15 days.
That’s I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E!
Imagine if Basil and the Fawlty Towers DVDs ended up traveling that much. How cool would that be?
I love that these sorts of projects are going on, I only wish I had found them sooner. And I’ve found a few great ones now…so stay tuned!
