It’s been a hectic few days trying to keep things moving along here, and I had forgotten how much up-keep Basil required. Since he’s been traveling I’ve enjoyed a few minutes of peace and quiet…now that he’s been back for almost a week, I remember why I sent him on this crazy adventuure in the first place!

Anyway, last night Basil, my wife and I (and a couple of friends from Toronto) went to a great little restaurant in Little Italy called Lucca. I had never been; it was a recommendation from our friends. They used to live in Montreal, and although they hadn’t been to Lucca’s in quite some time, almost the entire staff remembered them by name. That’s pretty impressive as far as I’m concerned.

They were a little stunned to see a donkey squeeze through the door, and the valet (free valet parking btw) thought for a moment that he needed to park the donkey. It was a somewhat embarassing moment when Basil said, “Do you know who I am? I’m Basil from WHERE-IS-BASIL” The valet tried to keep a straight face, but we heard him burst into laughter as we walked into the restaurant.

I wish I could have taken some pictures, but of course my camera battery died. *sigh*

Anyway, we enjoyed ourselves a great deal, and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend it if you’re up for Italian.

Today we spent the day with my son, who decided to spend the day whining. Whining kids are a lot of fun. No, really, they are. Luckily Basil’s pretty patient…um…right…

So now the kid’s whining and Basil’s off in a huff filing a hoof nail or something. Oh ya, a rockin’ Saturday was had by all!

Basil’s going to stick around tomorrow and then most probably fly out to Nova Scotia to visit Derek Andrews. I’m hoping a bit of country-living will knock the prima donna out of Mr. Donkey Rockstar, but we’ll see.
